The Security Middle East Conference 2023

On May 9th, 2023 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Security Middle East Magazine hosted our inaugural conference, which featured security influencers and decision-makers from across the world discussing the issues that mattered most to businesses within the Saudi Arabia Security Marketplace.

Panels discussed Smart Cities, the Saudi Vision 2030 Initiative, the notable talent gap within Saudi Arabia and finally, the rising importance of cybersecurity across the industry.

Keynote Speeches

Three keynote speeches took place on the day:

Abdulrahman Al Fadhel's speech on the necessity of routine and collaboration for refineries titled:
"Collaborations between refineries and Security Services"

Steven Kenny's speech on cybersecurity and the importance of network knowledge, titled:
"Are your physical security systems your biggest risk?"

The final speech on the day was from Salman Alghamdi, with a focus on change management titled:
"Digital Transformation with Industrial Security"

Panel Discussions

A number of panels also took place on the day, focusing on the different elements of the security marketplace and creating deep discussion surrounding multiple topics.

The first panel of the day was focused on the Talent Gap problem prelevant within Saudi Arabia. Panellists theorized around methods of overcoming this talent gap and how new paths need to be made to direct the youth of Saudi Arabia down specialized education.

The second panel of the day, hosted by Borhen Marzougui focused on Smart Cities. Panellists discussed what a smart city needs to be, to accomplish its goals - completely connected, bridging the physical and the digital.

The final panel of the day, presented alongside Darktrace, was that of our cybersecurity panel, "Resiliency in the age of digitisation", which featured industry leaders stressing the importance of cyber systems and exploring options for businesses navigating the cyber landscape.
